Proof of Financial Means

In order to obtain a visa certain countries need to demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to cover their costs of living while in the country.  You'll be required to prove that you have access to enough funds during your stay, this may range from $50 to $200 USD per day.  To determine this, the embassy may ask that you provide documents such as current bank statements, proof of earning or if applicable, bank statements and/or proof of earnings from a third party that will be sponsoring you during your stay.

Bank Statement

An official bank statement can be obtained from your current financial institution and below are some tips to keep in mind when preparing this document:

  • The bank logo and signature of the bank must be clearly visible.

  • It must be dated with the last two months of your visa application

  • You should be using a current account that you use on a day-to-day basis

  • If possible, ensure that there are no restrictions on withdrawals from the account, this should be shown on the statement.

  • Ensure the account is in the same name as appears on the visa application document and passport information.

  • Ensure the bank number is clearly visible.

  • Ensure the contact details of the bank where your money is kept is clearly visible.  This includes phone numbers, emails and physical addresses of the bank need to be shown.

  • The currency the funds are in must be clearly stated.
